Production and Allocation Machine
More commonly known as PAL, they are one (more notable) surviving Volkohov-friendly AIs who participated in the creation of the TCF. Many surviving AI designers have been radically updated since that time and it is implied that PAL has been as well(though not said directly). Like many of the other surviving AI designers of the TCF, PAL is housed somewhere in Governance and prefers to keep a low profile. [1]
They currently forecast, report, and manage almost every aspect of the human economy on worlds managed by Governance. Some examples of which are: Alloc distribution, resource allocation, and production allocation. It should be noted, however, that PAL does not per se require the production of goods but uses monetary policy to create economic incentives that prioritize certain modes of spending and production, though, it does seem to have some ability to control the pricing of certain goods as stated in Chapter 1's opening excerpt. It's currently unclear how much control it has. [2] [3]
