== Why does Ryouko's soul gem glow in the presence of active FTL technology? ==

My current hypothesis ties the glowing aspect into [[Ryouko]]'s teleporting power, which is suspiciously akin to the [[Cepaholopod]]'s [[FTL|Blink]] drive:
* Both require charging a jump
* Both require some pause after a jump to recharge
* Both are (presumable) instantaneous in transfer

Points of contention needed to reconcile:
* Ryouko's gem glows in presence of hyperspace FTL
** This might be explained by an assumed presence of exotic matter in both kinds of engines.
